Social Workers for a Free Palestine
Social Workers for a Free Palestine is a growing network of social workers, social care workers, social work academics and students, who are standing together in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in support of Palestinian liberation. Though we are based and mainly active in the UK, our Social Workers’ Pledge for Palestine is open for social workers and social care workers to sign, from anywhere in the world.
We came together at the end of 2023 following the horrific intensification of Israel’s violence against the Palestinians, though we recognise that this is a continuation of Israel’s ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians from 1948 onwards, and we acknowledge the part played in the dispossession of the Palestinians by the British, particularly in the first half of the 20th century.

Social Workers’ Pledge for Palestine
In line with our values and ethical codes, as social workers and social care workers, including students, academics and retired workers, in solidarity with the Palestinian people, and to support our social work colleagues in Palestine, we pledge:
To support the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom, justice and equality, and to refuse to support activities which normalise and justify Israel’s illegal occupation and colonising of Palestinian land
To raise awareness of Israel’s apartheid against the Palestinian people, among our colleagues and in our organisations, and to encourage colleagues and others to act in solidarity with Palestine
To heed the call from Palestinian civil society for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel until it complies with international law and universal principles of human rights
To continue to do this, until Palestine is free.
